The 540th Cranger Kirmes in Herne kicked off officially with a keg tapping ceremony and a colorful stage program in the festival tent. As usual, Herne's Mayor Frank Dudda (SPD) was the first to tap the keg, this time with the support of Deputy Minister President Mona Neubaur (Greens). Vanessa Mai provided the musical entertainment.

The funfair has been running along the Rhein-Herne Canal since Thursday afternoon, featuring attractions like carousels and a Ferris wheel. Over four million visitors are expected until August 11th, who can choose from 50 rides and games, including new attractions and classic favorites. Around 500 showmen are involved.

According to Herne's city marketing, this event is the largest family funfair in Germany and the largest folk festival in North Rhine-Westphalia, this year with the slogan "Bigger than you think!" Visitors from neighboring countries are also expected.

"Mood is good and people are still happy to spend their money here," quoted the city marketing from the President of the Showmen's Association, Patrick Arens, just before the start of Crange. For the first time, helicopter flights over the fairground can be booked.

The 540th Cranger Kirmes in Herne offers a diverse range of products for visitors, with a list of the categories including 50 rides and games, food stalls, merchandise shops, and ticketing booths. During the event, attendees can also enjoy helicopter flights as an additional experience.
