- Commencement of hands-on-integrated instruction

At the University of Magdeburg, the initial 30 individuals pursuing a career in secondary education have commenced an innovative educational program. They're remunerated throughout their studies and begin teaching in schools prematurely. The inaugural agreements between these students and Saxony-Anhalt's state have been inked, as per the Ministry of Education's announcement from Magdeburg. This experimental project targets teacher scarcity and boosts the instructional quality in teacher education.

In this professional-focused Bachelor's course, commencing in the winter semester 2024/25, theoretical information and practical school experience are merged. From the third semester, students spend one school day weekly at their designated school, observing and collecting initial classroom insights. In the subsequent Master's program, these prospective educators independently conduct two school days weekly.

For pairings with the German language's main subject, 16 options have been provided, and for the main subject of Mathematics, 14. German can be linked with Ethics, Technology, and Chemistry, while Mathematics can be paired with Physics, Technology, and Chemistry. Upon graduation, students vow to serve as teachers in Saxony-Anhalt for a five-year term.

This innovative educational program, focusing on teaching studies, is specifically designed to address teacher scarcity and enhance instructional quality. In the Bachelor's course, students will not only learn theoretical concepts but also gain practical experience by teaching in schools for multiple days each week.
