Civil protection: At least 90 killed in Israeli airstrike on Gaza school

Civil Defense spokesperson told AFP that "three Israeli rockets" hit the school where, according to his statement, Palestinian internally displaced persons were sheltered. The Islamic movement's media office, meanwhile, reported "over 100 martyrs". Earlier, the Civil Defense spokesperson had stated a minimum of 40 deaths on the Telegram online channel.

The Israeli army, on Saturday, stated that they had "precision-struck Hamas terrorists operating in a Hamas command center in the Al-Tabaeen school".

Only two days ago, the Civil Defense authority reported that at least 18 people were killed in Israeli attacks on two schools in Gaza. The Israeli army stated that the schools were used by Hamas as command centers from which attacks were planned and executed.

Israel accuses Hamas of using schools, hospitals, and other civilian facilities for military purposes and exploiting civilians as human shields since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip. Hamas denies these allegations.

The war has been ongoing for over ten months now. It was sparked by the unprecedented large-scale attack by Hamas on October 7, in which, according to Israeli reports, Hamas fighters and other militant Palestinian groups killed 1194 people and took 251 as hostages into the Gaza Strip.

In response to the attack, Israel has been conducting large-scale military operations in the Gaza Strip. According to figures from the Hamas-controlled health ministry, which cannot be independently verified, at least 39,699 people have been killed.

The civil protection authority in Gaza strongly condemned Israel's use of schools as military targets, emphasizing the need for international intervention to protect civilian infrastructure. Despite Israel's accusations, the civil protection insisted on the separation of military and civilian facilities to prevent such incidents in the future.
