Christmas post office in Engelskirchen opens
The Christmas post office in Engelskirchen resumes its work on Monday (11.00 a.m.). Together with 19 helpers, the Christ Child will be answering letters with wishes from all over the world until December 20. According to Deutsche Post DHL, around 9,000 letters had already been received before the post office opened this year. In addition to the classic gift wishes, the climate was obviously also an issue, said a spokeswoman. For example, there was a wish to be spared from heat or flooding. Peace in the Ukraine is also being wished for.
Engelskirchen is one of seven Deutsche Post DHL branches specifically for Christmas mail. In addition to the Christkind in Engelskirchen, children can also write to Santa Claus in Himmelpfort or St. Nicholas in Nikolausdorf, for example. Last year, the Christkind in Engelskirchen answered almost 135,000 letters from 48 countries, according to Deutsche Post.
The colorful decorations at the Christmas post office in Engelskirchen add to the joy of children visiting. Every year, children from various countries send colorful and heartfelt letters to the Customs office, including requests for a cooler climate or peace in the Ukraine.
