Christmas market season begins
Mulled wine and stollen are now in season: four weeks before the festive season, some municipalities in Brandenburg opened their Christmas markets on Monday.
In Potsdam, Lord Mayor Mike Schubert (SPD) cut an XXL stollen. In Cottus, too, the head of the town hall handed out Christmas pastries in cold, wintry temperatures. Brandenburg an der Havel has also had an artificial ice rink at its Christmas market since Monday.
Before the start of the traditional markets, organizers and hut operators complained about staff shortages and price increases. However, mulled wine prices are likely to be around 3.50 to 4 euros again this year, they said.
In the coming days and on the upcoming Advent weekends, traders and craftsmen will be opening their stalls in other towns, such as Prenzlau and Eberswalde. In the Spreewald, the town of Lübbenau invites you to a maritime Christmas market including boat trips (2/3.12). The Bohemian Christmas market starts on December 1-3 in Potsdam-Babelsberg - the district where Bohemian weavers once settled.
Despite customary complaints about staff shortages and price increases, several municipalities in Brandenburg, including Potsdam and Cottbus, have already kicked off their Christmas market seasons. These markets offer attractions such as Mulled wine, stollen, and ice rinks, with many more towns joining in the coming days and during Advent weekends.
