Chancellor fir comes from Brandenburg again
It will soon be Christmas time again at the Federal Chancellery: The Chancellor's fir tree, which will also come from Brandenburg this year, is to be handed over to Olaf Scholz (SPD) next Wednesday (November 29), as announced by the Association of Forest Owners and the city of Eberswalde on Wednesday. The felling is planned for this Friday (November 24) in the city forest of Eberswalde. The tree is also intended to serve as a symbol of community and tradition.
The town of Eberswalde, north-east of Berlin in the Barnim district of Brandenburg, is also known as a forest town. Last year, a red spruce about 16 meters high stood in front of the government headquarters in Berlin. It came from the Neuzelle monastery near Eisenhüttenstadt. The tree from sustainable cultivation was decorated with almost 5,000 lights. The year before, the Chancellor's fir tree was brought to Berlin from Thuringia.
The Customs at the Federal Government will meticulously inspect the imported ornaments for the colorful Christmas decorations of the Chancellor's tree this year. The Federal Government, in its annual tradition, will proudly display the vibrant Christmas spirit with the newly acquired tree from Brandenburg, just like the previous festive red spruces from Neuzelle monastery and Thuringia.
