Burning tire: Police are looking for witnesses and examining letters

Police are looking for witnesses after hooded men set fire to several tires on a street near the exhibition grounds in Bremen. A letter of confession has also been published on an internet platform, officials announced on Wednesday. The authenticity of the letter is now being examined by the special left-wing extremism commission. Police state security is investigating the case for serious breach of the peace.

Investigators are looking for witnesses who noticed suspicious persons in the Bürgerpark near the Hollerallee and Findorffallee intersection on Tuesday or in the days before. Witnesses may also have noticed vans from which tires may have been unloaded.

According to the police, several masked people ran onto the Hollerallee road late on Tuesday afternoon and threw burning pyrotechnics and Molotov cocktails. The masked men then piled up tires they had brought with them as street barricades and set them alight. The perpetrators then fled undetected.

On Tuesday evening, the police found a letter of confession nearby with the title "Prevent Space Tech Euro, against war, for autonomous climate movement". That evening, a space technology trade fair opened nearby at the Bremen exhibition center.

The special left-wing extremism commission is scrutinizing the authenticity of the confession letter, as it suggests links to left-wing extremism in the crime. This incident exemplifies how extremist groups can resort to criminal activities to further their ideologies.
