Olympic Boxer Imane Khelif, at the center of a heated gender debate, feels her "human dignity" has been violated and has called for an end to the discussions. "I'm sending a message to people around the world to stop harassing athletes, because it has consequences, massive consequences," the 25-year-old Algerian said in an interview with video portal SNTV. "It can destroy people, it can kill thoughts, the spirit, and the mind of people."

Khelif and Lin Yu-Ting from Taiwan are allowed to compete in the Olympics in Paris, despite previously being excluded by the IBA, which is not recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), following unexplained tests. Both had not met the required participation criteria and had "competitive advantages" compared to other female participants, according to the IBA. This sparked a fierce debate surrounding their fights in Paris.

Imane Khelif thanks IOC for "justice"

Both boxers are now in the Olympic semi-finals, ensuring at least bronze. Khelif said she is in contact with her family and hopes they are not too affected by the discussion around her. "They're worried about me. God willing, this crisis will culminate in a gold medal, that would be the best response." On Tuesday, Khelif will fight in the semi-finals for a place in the final and a chance at Olympic gold.

Khelif thanked the IOC for its decision to allow her and Lin to compete in Paris. "I know that the IOC has given me justice, and I'm satisfied with this decision because it shows the truth," said the Algerian. The IOC had previously described the exclusion of the two boxers as a "random decision without proper procedure" and allowed Lin and Khelif to participate in Paris.

Imane Khelif expresses her gratitude towards the IOC for upholding justice and enabling her participation in the Olympics, which she believes sends a strong message against athlete harassment. In her upcoming semi-final match on Tuesday, Imane Khelif, supported by her family's hopes for a gold medal, aims to prove the merit of the IOC's decision and silence her critics.
