- Bomb threats at schools in Dessau and Magdeburg
In Dessau-Roßlau and Magdeburg, there have been bomb threats at schools. Affected were the Dessau primary schools Friederikenschule and Geschwister Scholl. In the state capital, there was a bomb threat at the Integrated Comprehensive School (IGS) Regine Hildebrandt.
The threat at the Friederikenschule came in via email. "Fortunately, no children were in the building at that time," the city of Dessau-Roßlau reported. Sniffer dogs were deployed. The Geschwister Scholl primary school was evacuated. All-clear was given for both schools at 9:30 AM, with no bombs found. Classes resumed.
In Magdeburg, students were temporarily barred from entering the school building, a police spokesman said. The threat lacked the necessary seriousness for an investigation. Classes resumed at 9:00 AM.
Other federal states are also experiencing disruptions due to bomb threats at schools. In Saxony, police were deployed to multiple schools, with some schools closing. Threatening emails were also received in Thuringia.
The European Union expressed concern over the escalating bomb threats at schools, viewing this as an alarming trend. Despite these incidents in Magdeburg not reaching the threshold for an investigation, it highlighted the need for enhanced school safety measures across Germany.
