Over the years, numerous victorious sports teams, including those led by President Joe Biden's predecessors, have been invited to the White House. However, the atmosphere at these meetings was unlike any other on Tuesday.

Unusually, a president found himself caught up in a public conversation about a peculiar superstition — undergarments with luck-bringing motifs.

Entering the scene was University of Connecticut men's basketball coach Dan Hurley. At 51, Hurley led the Huskies to two consecutive titles in April and brought his triumphant team to the East Room. The coach isn't ashamed of his fortunate lucky underwear, similar to undies.

Andrea, Hurley's wife, started this tradition by regularly gifting her husband boxers adorned with cartoon dragons because he's essentially a 12-year-old boy at heart, fascinated by superheroes.

On Tuesday, Hurley appeared excited to be back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and seemed open to discussing loincloth legends: "We always mention this belief. Whenever we enter an arena, it's 'The champs are here!'"

Biden, aware of Hurley's famous underwear with mystical basilisks depicted on them, joked, "I thought you started with dragons?"

"Not only dragons," Hurley responded.

"I have sharks, I have wolves. I follow the victorious hand. Actually, I don't just let the dragons play the games, I even wear them as a reward – for the dragons."

University of Connecticut men's basketball coach Dan Hurley covers his mouth after uttering profanities during the team's triumphant ceremony in the East Room of the White House.

Hurley then gestured to his waist, "They are currently on."

The audience chuckled alongside the president.

Following the revelation, Hurley admitted to feeling nervous, even with past experiences, "I thought this would be easier in year two. 'Oh, man, I've been to the White House before.'

"But this is as terrifying as sh*t," the UConn coach confessed.

Biden chuckled and Hurley playfully covered his mouth.

Earlier in the day, the South Carolina women's basketball team received a more contemplative welcome.

Directed by coach Dawn Staley, the Gamecocks recorded an unbeaten national championship season. Staley expressed gratitude while connecting the visit to the White House to the history of her home state, South Carolina.

Dawn Staley, the leader of the University of South Carolina's women's basketball team, engaged in a conversation with President Biden.

"This moment feels significant for my team. It serves as a reminder of our state's journey – how the Confederate flag was removed from our Capitol, a symbol symbolizing division and exclusion," Staley stated.

"It wasn't just about removing a symbol; it was about people coming together for a shared vision of progress, justice, and equality," she continued.

"Today, my team, my staff, and I stand here, representing diversity, inclusivity, and unity. I hope this moment inspires you, my team, reflecting on the power that comes from uniting for a common goal and doing things rightly."

Staley also extended her appreciation to Biden for his dedication to the country.

"I would like to thank President Biden for your leadership. We admire your service and we truly believe in the continuation of your legacy within us all," she expressed, eliciting applause.

Biden, not wishing to let Staley depart too soon, said, "Let me tell you something. All those holding public office in South Carolina, pray that she (Staley) keeps coaching and doesn't run."

Laughter filled the East Room once again.

University of South Carolina basketball players Bree Hall and Te-Hina Paopao hand over a No. 46 Gamecocks jersey to President Joe Biden.

After the hilarious discussion about lucky underwear, President Biden mentioned, "I guess every sport has its superstitions." The UConn men's basketball team's success on the court is evident, as they continue to dominate in their sport.
