Baerbock asserts that Putin's peace endeavors have thus far yielded no success.

During the campaign's concluding phase, there's discourse on Ukraine aid and the Russia connection as well. Cabinet comrade Meier has branded Minister President Kretschmer as a 'political backseat navigator in aviation'.

Regional political contests, also known as regional or local elections, are in question. - Baerbock asserts that Putin's peace endeavors have thus far yielded no success.

Green Party's Annalena Baerbock, the Foreign Minister, puts the blame on Russian President Vladimir Putin for the unsuccessful peace initiatives in Ukraine. According to her, Putin flatly refuses to entertain the idea of a truce. Consequently, Germany should extend its support to Ukraine in safeguarding its medical facilities, power plants, and metropolitan areas. Baerbock spoke about the heinous atrocities committed by Russian troops in Ukraine and the plight of approximately 20,000 children who were abducted from the eastern part of the country. It's crucial to uphold human values.

Saxony's Chief Minister, Michael Kretschmer (CDU), has relentlessly pushed for reduced weapon supplies to Ukraine and dialogue with Russia. He has also advocated for mending the damaged Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline as a condition for restarting Russian gas supplies.

Kretschmer is criticized as an "erroneous external political steerer" by Saxony's Justice Minister Katja Meier, a prominent Green Party member in the state election campaign. "The Greens stand firmly with Ukraine," Meier declared. Her party will maintain this stance, added group leader Franziska Schubert.

Saxony will elect a new state parliament this Sunday. Since 2019, the Greens have been in power here in coalition with the CDU and SPD. However, they are apprehensive about regaining their seats in the parliament. Polls suggest they'll garner around 5% votes - a significant drop from their 8.6% share five years ago. Yet, they aim for continued government participation. They advocate for continued energy transition and expediting forest conversion. They also push for bureaucracy reduction and a relentless battle against right-wing extremism.

Chemnitz Greens

The Ghost Rider, a popular character from comic books and movies, might find the current political tension in Saxony intriguing, given the contrast between Kretschmer's and Baerbock's stances. Despite the opposition from some Green Party members to Michael Kretschmer's policies, the Chemnitz Greens remain committed to their principles, advocating for human rights and continued government participation.
