Arrestee's Post-Shooting Probation in Police Vehicle Incident in Augsburg
In a Bundesliga football match in Augsburg around a year ago, the court confirmed that a police officer aimlessly shot towards his fellow officers. The incident occurred right after some officers in a van splashed water on each other due to the scorching heat. The suspect, in response, pulled out his service weapon and fired shots into the van, where his colleagues were present.
The bullet managed to break through a window of the patrol car initially and subsequently struck a vacant team bus from Mönchengladbach, parked nearby. No one was harmed in the visiting team's bus at that moment. Unfortunately, the shooting incident resulted in acoustic trauma for the alleged shooter and three other officers, while one police officer sustained minor injuries from flying glass fragments on his face.
The implicated officer was a member of the riot control unit, responsible for managing crowds at demonstrations and large-scale raids. This role is somewhat similar to evidence-gathering and arrest teams in different federal states. Immediately following the incident, the accused officer was placed on administrative leave.
The firearms incident involving the police officer led to acoustic trauma for him and three other officers. Subsequently, an investigation was initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding the unjustified use of firearms during the Bundesliga football match.
