Another haystack in Pinneberg County caught fire

Hay bales are burning in a field in Kreis Pinneberg. It takes hours to extinguish the fire. This is not the first fire of this type in the area.

- Another haystack in Pinneberg County caught fire

Around 200 hay bales caught fire on a field near Hasloh in the Pinneberg district. The fire was extinguished on Monday afternoon after five hours, as a fire department spokesman announced. The operation was challenging due to water supply issues at the scene. Around 600 meters of hose lines were laid. Approximately 120 personnel from several fire departments and a wheel loader from the Technical Relief Agency (THW) were involved in the firefighting efforts. A grabber from a private company and several farmers were also on the scene.

A few hours earlier, a shelter with 18 hay bales burned down in Norderstedt in the Segeberg district. Over the weekend, hay bales were also set ablaze in Quickborn and Bilsen (both in the Pinneberg district). In Quickborn, 15 round bales were destroyed, and in Bilsen, as many as 700. While the firefighters in Hasloh were still clearing up, another haystack caught fire at the scene in Bilsen.

The Criminal Police have launched an investigation. Arson and a possible connection between the fires cannot be ruled out, the police said.

The firefighting efforts in Pinneberg district extended beyond Hasloh, as another haystack caught fire in Bilsen, also part of Pinneberg county. Despite the multiple incidents of hay bale fires in Quickborn and Bilsen, the Pinneberg county continues to face challenges in managing its hay fields.
