Allegedly Ex-PKK Officerdetained at Frankfurt Airport'sterminals
The supposed arrest warrant for individual K. is reported to have been issued by a judge from the Federal Court of Justice around mid-February. As per reports, K. was apprehended in Italy during mid-June, following a European arrest warrant. Currently, K. is being held in pre-trial detention in Germany.
From January 2014 to July 2015, K. is implicated in functioning as a full-time staffer for the PKK within German territory. The Federal Prosecutor's Office claims he took on the standard responsibilities of a so-called sector leader. Major duties included managing the operational, personnel, and propaganda matters of the PKK across different sectors.
At first, K. was engaged in the "South 1" sector, encompassing regions such as Darmstadt, Frankfurt am Main, Gießen, Mannheim, Nuremberg, and Saarbrücken. Post July 2014, he shifted his focus to the "Central" sector, which covered areas like Bielefeld, Bonn, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Cologne, and Münster.
K. is said to have given orders to the designated area leaders, as well as to cadres and activists under his command. His tasks also included overseeing the implementation of these directives. He, in turn, had to adhere to the instructions from the PKK's supposed European leadership. The Federal Prosecutor's Office alleges that K. was a key organizer of propaganda events and meetings. They charge him with belonging to a foreign terrorist organization.
