Aldi and Hy-Vee's Cream Cheese Products Recalled Due to Salmonella Concerns
As of now, there haven't been any health issues reported. The companies have instructed customers to toss the recalled items or return them to where they bought them for a refund.
Hy-Vee is withdrawing:
- Hy-Vee cream cheese spread in 12-ounce packages with "best by" dates of October 1 and the UPC code 0075450096120.
- Hy-Vee whipped cream cheese spread in 8-ounce containers with "best by" dates of August 7 and August 14, and the UPC code 0075450096132.
- Hy-Vee cookies and cream mix in 16-ounce containers with December "best by" dates, the UPC code 0075450486730, and lot numbers 24073, 24101, and 24117.
- Hy-Vee to-go cookies and cream mix in 4-ounce containers with December "best by" dates, the UPC code 0075450486740, and lot numbers 24073, 24101, and 24117.
Hy-Vee mentioned these products were available at Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore, Dollar Fresh Market, and Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh convenience stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Aldi is pulling:
- Aldi whipped cream cheese in 8-ounce cups with "best by" dates ranging from August 30 to September 4 and the UPC code 4099100101881.
- Aldi chive & onion cream cheese spread in 8-ounce cups with "best by" dates of September 13 and September 22 and the UPC number 409910010175.
- Aldi cream cheese in 8-ounce cups with "best by" dates of September 1, September 9, and September 15 and the UPC number 4099100101737.
- Aldi strawberry cream cheese spread in 8-ounce cups with "best by" dates of September 9 and September 15 and the UPC number 4099100101744.
These are the recalled Aldi items that were sold in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Consuming Salmonella bacteria results in symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever. They may appear six hours to six days after being exposed to the bacteria.
Those more prone to severe symptoms include the elderly, pregnant individuals, children, and others with conditions that lead to a weakened immune system.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Salmonella causes around 1.35 million instances of sickness and 420 deaths annually in the United States.

Customers who purchased affected Hy-Vee items should carefully check their products for the specified dates and codes. If found, they should discard the products or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
Aldi customers in various states are advised to check for the recalled cream cheese items in their purchases, as they may contain Salmonella bacteria, which can cause severe symptoms in certain individuals.
