Gold mining in the Black Forest - Adults are starting to spin for gold

The allure of gold blinds some people, as experienced by Michael Leopold, who offers gold panning courses. "Adults always start to get carried away when it comes to gold," said the geologist with a diploma during one of his workshops in Bad Herrenalb in the Northern Black Forest. "They expect egg-sized nuggets." But in Germany, gold findings are usually just tiny flakes, with which one cannot make a fortune.

"Gold has lost none of its mystique," Leopold explained the hype around the precious metal. The demand for courses remains high. This is also due to TV formats that convey a sense of excitement, adventure, and success. While such contributions are good marketing for gold panning courses, they do not reflect the reality in Germany.

Leopold often conducts his gold panning workshops in the serene surroundings of the Northern Black Forest, specifically in Bad Herrenalb, near The Black Forest. Despite the modest gold findings in Germany, participants continue to flock to Leopold's courses, drawn by the allure of discovering even the tiniest flakes of gold in The Black Forest.
