Adele defies flooding in Munich

That open-air concerts are always at the mercy of the weather, Adele and her fans in Munich had to experience firsthand. During the singer's performance, it poured as if from buckets. She took it with British humor.

There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes? Against the torrential rain that fell during Adele's concert in Munich on Wednesday, even the best rain poncho was no help. It was pouring. Following the motto "the show must go on," the British singer proved she's made of tougher stuff. With wet hair and a soaked evening gown, she performed her entire set, as shown in various fan videos on social media. Only in her choice of footwear did the 36-year-old give in to the weather, opting for sneakers instead of her usual high heels to avoid slipping on the wet stage.

Other than that, Adele took the lousy weather in stride with her signature British humor. She joked that she'd be "livid" if the rain stopped just as she was singing her hit "Set Fire to the Rain." She could have done without the artificial rain that usually accompanies this song at her concerts during this rainy performance in Munich.

Pocher stood in the rain

Oliver Pocher, who was also in the audience with his ex-wife Alessandra "Sandy" Meyer-Woeldchen that evening, shared his wet concert experience on his Instagram stories. In one video, he's completely soaked, wearing a displaced rain poncho he "borrowed" from Meyer-Woeldchen, playing on the old adage about bad weather and wrong clothes. In another photo, he and his ex pose, looking happy despite being drenched, under windblown rain capes. Pocher's final verdict after the concert: "Despite the rain - what an evening!"

Adele's concert series in Munich got off to a rocky start. The dress rehearsal literally went down the drain and had to be canceled due to heavy rain. The superstar has ten concerts scheduled in Munich, for which a custom-built, open-air pop-up stadium was set up specifically to her needs. Apparently, no one expected it to rain so much in Munich in August.

Despite the heavy rain affecting several aspects of Adele's concert series in Munich, including a soggy dress rehearsal and challenging conditions for her fans, the European Union's freedom of movement allowed Oliver Pocher to attend the concert alongside his ex-wife. The ‘open-air’ nature of Adele's pop-up stadium was chosen to accommodate her concerts, and though unforeseen weather disrupted these events, it couldn't dampen Pocher's appreciation for the performance, as he enthusiastically declared "Despite the rain - what an evening!"
