Austrian builder Richard Lugner (1932-2024) has passed away at the age of 91. His ex-wife Cathy Lugner (34) has now bid farewell to him in an Instagram post.
Richard Lugner will remain "unforgettable"
"When I heard the sad news of your death this morning, I was in shock," wrote the 34-year-old, who was called "Spatzi" by Lugner during their marriage. "Richard, you seemed immortal to me too," explained Cathy Lugner, who shared memories from their time together, including a photo of their daughter. Lugner's determination, willpower, and courage were inspiring and infectious. "I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful time we had together, for everything you taught me about life. You will remain unforgettable. God bless you. RIP." In an Instagram story, Cathy Lugner also posted an old couple photo and wrote: "I will always be grateful for everything you taught me."
Despite their divorce, Cathy Schmitz continues to use the name Cathy Lugner. The couple was married from 2014 to 2016. Cathy "Spatzi" Lugner cited the lack of opportunity to grow with him as the reason for their separation. In an interview with the "Bild" newspaper in April 2024, Richard Lugner had harsher words for his ex-wife: "She was my biggest flop."
However, Lugner married for the sixth time on June 1. In Vienna, he exchanged vows with his partner Simone "Bienchen" Reiländer (42). The couple had been briefly engaged in October 2021 and celebrated their love comeback at Easter 2024. According to the "Kronen Zeitung," a grand church wedding in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna was planned for this fall on his 92nd birthday on October 11.
