- A man stays overnight in a supermarket
No Burglar, But an Unauthorized Overnighter Detained in Supermarket in Stadthagen
Police in Stadthagen (Schaumburg district) apprehended an unauthorized overnight guest rather than a burglar in a supermarket. Earlier, an alarm had been triggered on Saturday evening, as officers reported.
According to the police, a security company had detected motion sensors being activated in the supermarket. Officers were dispatched to inspect the premises and found a 38-year-old man.
The man reportedly admitted to having intentionally locked himself in the supermarket after closing hours to spend the night there. No damages or theft were found by the police. The 38-year-old was escorted out of the supermarket, and a house trespassing case was initiated. "A supermarket is not a hotel," the authorities clarified in a statement about the incident.
Despite his intentions for city days, the 38-year-old man spent an unexpected night in the supermarket. His city days turned into an unauthorized stay within the store's walls.
