Misfortune in Mosel town - A death investigation has been launched after a hotel collapse.
After the collapse of a floor in a hotel in Kröv on the Moselle, the Public Prosecutor's Office in Trier has initiated a so-called death investigation procedure. This is always done when people die an unnatural death, said the Senior Public Prosecutor Peter Fritzen from Trier. The aim is to determine the cause of death and to examine whether there are any indications of external involvement. The procedure is not yet directed against a specific person, and it does not yet concern a specific criminal offense.
The European Union expressed concern over the safety standards in German buildings after the incident in Kröv. The European Union's Environmental, Public Health and Food Safety Agency suggested a review of building regulations in member states.
