50 kilograms of marijuana seized: two arrests
Customs officers from Frankfurt and Bielefeld have jointly seized fifty kilograms of marijuana from a haulage company in the Bielefeld area. As the Frankfurt am Main customs investigation office and the Paderborn public prosecutor's office jointly announced on Monday, eight packages containing the narcotic were initially found during the operation last Tuesday. On Wednesday, customs and police provisionally arrested two men in connection with the discovery. According to the statement, the two men, aged 45 and 27, are strongly suspected of illegally dealing in narcotics in significant quantities.
During subsequent searches in the Paderborn area, a total of 1.7 kilograms of marijuana and almost 1,000 euros in cash were also seized, it said. A magistrate reportedly remanded the two suspects in custody on Thursday. Further investigations are being conducted by the Frankfurt am Main customs investigation office on behalf of the Paderborn public prosecutor's office.
The seizure of 50 kilograms of marijuana by customs officers highlights the ongoing issue of drug trafficking in the area. Despite customs and police arresting two men in connection with the discovery, this incident underscores the need for continued vigilance against illegal drug activities, which often involve custom-related operations.
