31 search and seizure warrants for raids
In the nationwide raid against the Islamic Center Hamburg (IZH) and its associated institutions, 31 search and seizure warrants were executed in the Hanseatic city alone, according to the Interior Ministry. According to the authority, the focus of the measures was to further clarify the association's structures. Around 300 officers were involved in the searches.
According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, raids were also carried out in six other federal states in connection with the investigations into the IZH, which runs the Blue Mosque on the Alster.
Hamburg's Interior Senator Andy Grote spoke of a "hard blow" against the IZH, which made it clear that the ban proceedings against the center, which has been classified as Islamist by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution for many years, are well advanced. "I am very pleased that the Federal Ministry of the Interior is pursuing the ban proceedings with great determination and I assume that these proceedings will now be brought to a consistent conclusion and the IZH will be closed in the near future."
The search and seizure operations against the Islamic Center Hamburg (IZH) and its affiliated entities were not limited to Hamburg, as police forces from other federal states also participated in raids due to the ongoing investigations. The focus of these actions, including the execution of 31 warrants in Hamburg alone, appears to be aimed at countering extremist activities associated with the IZH.
