In a dispute in Steinfurt northwest of Münster, a 24-year-old was severely injured by stab wounds from a pocket knife on Thursday evening. According to a joint statement from police and the public prosecutor's office, police arrested a 34-year-old suspect shortly afterwards. Initial investigations suggest that the altercation on the street was triggered by a verbal argument. Paramedics took the 24-year-old to the hospital, with no risk to his life according to the statement.
A judge has now ordered pre-trial detention for the 34-year-old on charges of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm. The suspect has not yet commented on the charges, according to the statement.
