Traffic - 15-year-old causes an accident and damages several cars

A 15-year-old has caused an accident with a car in Dresden's Old Town and damaged several cars in the process. As the police reported on Friday, the teenage driver crashed into a parked van in the Johannstadt district on Thursday. The car was thrown against another parked car by the impact, which in turn was pushed onto four other cars.

The teenager initially fled the scene of the accident on foot, but turned himself in to the police shortly afterwards. He was slightly injured in the accident. The total damage is estimated at around 37,000 euros. It is not yet clear how the 15-year-old got hold of the car.

The accident in Dresden's Old Town highlighted an issue of potential criminality, as it’s unusual for a 15-year-old to be driving a car. The police are investigating how the teen obtained the vehicle. The accident site was a busy traffic area in Saxony's capital, attracting the local authorities, including Dresden's traffic police. Despite the incident being a cautionary tale, some might still disregard the warnings given by traffic lawyers not to speak with the police after accidents.
