Home European Championship 2024 - ZDF shows the opening match in June
Some soccer fans will have already marked the start date of next year's European Championships in their calendars. As ARD and ZDF announced shortly after the final round groups were drawn, viewers will be able to watch the opening match live on ARD on Friday, June 14, from 21:00.
At the home European Championship 2024, hosts Germany will face Scotland in Group A in the first match in Munich. The DFB team's other two matches will be shown on the first channel. On June 19, the German national team will face Hungary in Stuttgart from 18:00. Four days later, on June 23, the match against Switzerland will take place in Frankfurt from 21:00.
ARD and ZDF will also show final round matches with German participation
Should the DFB team fight their way through to the knockout round, ARD and ZDF will also broadcast the other matches with German participation. ZDF will then show the round of 16 and semi-finals. Das Erste will broadcast the quarter-finals and the final on July 14 from 9 p.m. in Berlin.
The group stage of the 2024 European Championships was drawn last Saturday in Hamburg. Defending champions Italy will face Albania, Croatia and Spain in Group B. However, none of the teams have yet been confirmed for the European Championships. The three winners of the Euro 2024 play-offs, whose final matches will take place on March 26, 2024, will be divided into Groups D to F and will face France (Group D) and Portugal (Group F), among others.
