Movie Director - Wim Wenders honored with the prestigious Franco-German Media Award

Wim Wenders, a filmmaker aged 78, will be presented with the Grand German-French Journalism Prize for his lifetime achievement this year. The ceremony will take place on September 17 in Paris, as announced by the prize chairman, Martin Grasmück, and the managing director of Saarländischer Rundfunk. The prestigious award celebrates Wenders' extensive career, which has primarily focused on Germany and France, leading to a better understanding between the two nations. Notable works by the esteemed filmmaker include "Paris, Texas" and "The Sky over Berlin".

Since 1983, the Deutsch-Französischer Journalistenpreis - with a total value of 30,000 euros - has been presented to honor exceptional journalistic achievements. Renowned partners of the prize include ZDF, Arte, Deutschlandradio, Saarbrücker Zeitung, Google, France Télévisions, and Radio France. The award alternates between Paris and Berlin, with winners recognized in five different categories each year. Previous recipients of this prestigious award include Simone Veil, Alfred Grosser, Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, and Helmut Schmidt.
