Energie Cottbus fails to score points on the road in the 3rd League. On Sundays game, they suffered a 1:2 (0:1) defeat against SV Wehen Wiesbaden, despite a solid performance for most of the match. Dennis Slamar (self-goal at 42') and Fatih Kaya (77') sealed the victory for the hosts. Tolcay Cigerci managed to level the scores temporarily at (64'). "Wehen was on point, while we weren't," stated dissatisfied Cottbus coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz, commenting on their missed opportunities.

Coach Wollitz continued with the starting lineup that had earned them a 2:1 home win over Alemannia Aachen. Energie began strongly, but chances went astray due to Timmy Thieles post shot and Tolcay Cigercis rebound (12') as well as Phil Halbauers attempt (34'). They also revealed some defensive weaknesses, with mistakes from Halbauer (27') and Cigerci (37') proving dangerous. Goalkeeper Elias Bethke was powerless as Slamar scored an own goal (42').

The second half started inauspiciously: Substitute Maximilian Pronichev was flagged offside when he assumed he had scored the equalizer (46'). Yannik Moker (50') and Filip Kusic (63') both squandered good chances. There was immense excitement when Cigerci finally equalized (64') from a corner kick.

Controversy ensued when the home team scored the winning goal, with Slamar appearing nowhere near Kaya. There was heated debate after a intense scuffle directly in front of the Cottbus bench, leading to yellow cards being issued to head coach Wollitz and substitute goalkeeper Alexander Sebald for vehemently contesting a foul on Lucas Copado.

Despite their strong start in Cottbus, Energie failed to capitalize on their opportunities, with missed chances from Timmy Thiele, Tolcay Cigerci, and Phil Halbauer. In contrast, Cottbus had to face Cottbus native Dennis Slamar's own goal and later Fatih Kaya's goal, leading Energie Cottbus to yet another loss in Cottbus, this time against SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Despite their defeat, Cottbus fans and coach Wollitz will be eagerly watching their team's next home match in Cottbus.
