Wagenknecht: "Re-elect the Bundestag as soon as possible"

After the CSU, former Left Party politician Sahra Wagenknecht is now also bringing an early general election into play. The "desolate traffic light" should no longer cling to power, according to Wagenknecht.

New party - Wagenknecht: "Re-elect the Bundestag as soon as possible"

Former Left Party politician Sahra Wagenknecht is calling for a snap federal election. She told Welt am Sonntag that her planned party actually wants to run for the first time in the European elections in June. "Of course, it would be better if the desolate coalition no longer clung to power and we could elect a new Bundestag as soon as possible." The CSU recently advocated bringing forward the Bundestag elections.

Wagenknecht left the Left Party in October with fellow campaigners and wants to found her own party in January. She reiterated her intention to govern: "We want to govern if we can change things for the better. In the federal states, it is not at all unlikely that people will have to work with us."

The 54-year-old repeated calls for a stricter migration policy along the lines of Denmark. Asylum procedures must be greatly accelerated, she said. "Those who are not entitled to asylum, and that is 90 percent, have no prospects of staying here and are not entitled to social benefits."
