Transporter on fire: A4 towards Dresden temporarily closed
A van caught fire in the engine compartment on the A4 shortly before the Wüstenbrand junction. As a result, the highway was closed in the direction of Dresden for half an hour, as the police announced on Monday. The 36-year-old driver brought the van to a halt on the hard shoulder on Monday morning and left the vehicle unharmed.
The fire department extinguished the vehicle fire and removed operating fluids from the van's engine from the highway. The damage to property amounted to 60,000 euros. The cause of the fire was initially unclear.
The incident caused traffic disruption, as vehicles had to divert around the closed section of the A4. Furthermore, the increase in diversions on nearby roads increased the risk of accidents due to traffic congestion.
