Traffic jam after truck fire on A73
Highway 73 has been closed due to a burnt-out truck near Eggolsheim (Forchheim district). According to the police, the highway was fully closed in the direction of Nuremberg on Tuesday morning for recovery work. Traffic was backed up for several kilometers, the end of the traffic jam was temporarily between the Hirschaid and Bamberg-Süd junctions. The closure continued throughout the morning.
According to the police, the driver's cab of the truck, which was loaded with building materials, burned out completely. There were no injuries. The police were initially unable to provide more detailed information about the damage and the cause of the fire. After the fire, one lane on the opposite carriageway was also initially impassable, but this was later reopened.
