Television - These are the streaming tips of the week

Lots of Christmas chaos with a star-studded cast, mysterious consequences of climate change and thieves - what's worth streaming this week.

Gift horror: "Candy Cane Lane"

Things get Christmassy - and very chaotic - in this comedy. Hollywood star Eddie Murphy ("The Prince of Zamunda") makes sure of that. He plays father Chris, who is determined to win the neighborhood competition for the best Christmas decorations. In order to win, he enlists the help of the elf Pepper. But she is up to no good. With a spell, she sends tons of weird and magical presents to the idyllic little town, causing huge chaos. This can be seen on Prime Video. Other roles include Jillian Bell ("Brittany Runs a Marathon") as the elf Pepper and Tracee Ellis Ross ("The High Note") as Chris' wife Carol.

Identity chaos: "Family Switch"

This Netflix Christmas movie also has a lot going on. Jennifer Garner ("Yes Day") and Ed Helms ("We're the Millers") experience the joys and sorrows of parenthood as a couple with two pubescent children and a baby. Difficult enough. But it gets even worse. By magic, the family's bodies are suddenly switched overnight, those of father Bill and son Wyatt as well as mother Jess and her daughter CC. And the baby slips into the dog's body. How are they supposed to cope with everyday life? And how can the spell be broken? Emma Myers ("Wednesday") and Brady Noon ("Greg's Diary") appear as the children. Also on board: Matthias Schweighöfer as a neighbor.

Climate change: "Snow"

The family of Matthi Hofer (Robert Stadlober - "Die Saat") is prominent in the mountain village of Rotten. Now the hotelier family wants to increase their fame and fortune with a new gondola station for winter sports enthusiasts. But there are problems: As a result of climate change, less and less snow is falling. The glacier is also melting - revealing a body that was frozen in the ice. A dark sensation, the mystery of which Inspector Prochazka wants to find out. He gets help from ten-year-old Alma, who is staying in Rotten with her mother and claims to be in contact with the dead woman. "Schnee" is the name of the mystery series in the ARD media library, with Stipe Erceg ("Wiener Blut") as the investigator and Brigitte Hobmeier ("Oktoberfest 1900") as Alma's mother.

Generous: "Robin Bank"

The rich hoard more and more money while the poor go away empty-handed - unfair, in the opinion of activist Enric Duran. He therefore uses a trick to obtain half a million euros from several banks, but not for himself. He puts the money into social projects to help poorer people. The documentary "Robin Bank" shows what motivated the Catalan to do this and what he wanted to achieve with his actions - to be seen on arte.tv and in the Arte media library.

Sensational: "The man who stole the "Scream""

In 1994, a theft shook the art world. The famous painting "The Scream" by Edvard Munch was stolen from the Norwegian National Museum in Oslo. Using a stepladder, the thief Pal Enger climbed through a window on the second floor and disappeared with the precious booty less than a minute later. At the scene of the crime: a postcard with the mocking inscription "Thank you for the poor security". But the coup wasn't quite so well thought out after all. Enger was caught around three months later and the painting was tracked down. Sky is now retracing the events of that time. In the documentary "The man who stole the "Scream"", art thief Enger also has his say. To be seen on WOW.
