On Tuesday, the club fulfilled the additional security guarantee requested by the arbitration court, which amounts to three million euros. However, the HSVH will only officially comment on this on Wednesday. This is when the deadline expires for them to transfer the money to the league's account.
Benefiting from the licensing decision in favor of HSVH, Bergische HC, who were relegated sportingly, will now compete as table 17 in the second league next season. The BHC had previously announced they would search for legal remedies if the decision favored the Hamburgers.
HSVH initially faced denial of the right to play in the HBL as they failed to meet a condition on time. They submitted proof of closing a financial gap too late. However, the HBL presidium rejected a complaint by HSVH against this condition. Eventually, the arbitration court decided the original condition hadn't been effectively set.
