Snoop Dogg swears off weed

Snoop Dogg is famous not only for his music, but also for his cannabis consumption. But now he wants to put an end to it: The US rapper announces that he no longer wants to smoke. He says nothing about the reasons - his fans are speculating.

US rapper Snoop Dogg, known not only for his music but also for his love of marijuana, says he wants to give up smoking. "After careful consideration and discussions with my family, I have decided to quit smoking. Please respect my privacy at this time," the musician explained on his online platforms. It was not clear from the announcement whether he was referring to smoking in general or specifically to weed.

Fans of the Californian rap superstar, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, reacted skeptically to the posts. Some wrote that the 52-year-old was just joking, while others speculated that their idol had serious health problems.

Snoop Dogg's fame dates back to the early 1990s. Back then, the musician stormed the charts with his solo debut album "Doggystyle", produced by rap great Dr. Dre. Snoop Dogg sold millions of albums worldwide and landed countless hits such as "Gin & Juice" and "Drop It Like It's Hot".

The stoner image has been a trademark of the hip-hop legend for years. In an interview, Snoop Dogg once admitted that he now has employees who do the filming for him. One employee stated last year that he rolled a total of "75 to 150" joints a day - but not all of them were intended for Snoop Dogg.

Despite his famous love for Cannabis, Snoop Dogg, a prominent figure in USA's hip hop and rap scene, has declared his intention to give up smoking, sparking speculation among fans. In the past, Snoop Dogg's entertainment empire often included heavy Cannabis consumption, with one employee even admitting to rolling up to 150 joints a day.
