In the realm of German football, the national team is set to face off against Scotland in Munich for the first match of the European Championship, airing at 8 pm on ZDF and MagentaTV. This marks the 1013th game in the DFB's history, with 583 wins, 210 draws, and 219 losses. The goal difference is positive at 2269:1195.

Moving onto the European Championship Finals, the DFB selection has managed to secure three titles in 1972, 1980, and 1996. There have also been unfortunate loses in 1976, 1992, and 2008. Out of the 53 games played, 27 were won while 13 were drawn, and similarly, 13 were lost. Bastian Schweinsteiger is the German EM record player with 18 appearances under his belt.

For Julian Nagelsmann, this is his debut tournament as the national coach. So far, he's only played friendly matches with the DFB team. The team's balance under his guidance has been impressive with four wins, two draws, and two losses, along with an incredible goal difference of 13:10. He has led the DFB team to four consecutive unbeaten games.

Moving on to Scotland, the DFB team has won eight out of 17 games played against them. Five games ended in draws, and four games were lost. Germany's biggest victory against Scotland took place during the group stage of the 1992 EM, with a score of 2:0. The most recent encounter was in September 2015 where Thomas Müller scored twice and Ilkay Gündogan scored the winning goal. Gündogan is the top scorer for the DFB against the Scots, netting four times.

Regarding the squad, three players - Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, and Toni Kroos - have participated in the European Championship four times. Neuer, Müller, and Kroos are also the most experienced players in the DFB squad when it comes to international matches. Müller currently tops the list with 129 international appearances, followed by Neuer with 119 and Kroos with 109. Joshua Kimmich and captain Gündogan are other experienced players with 86 and 77 international appearances, respectively. Surprisingly, goalkeeper Oliver Baumann is the only player in the 26-man squad without a national team appearance. The DFB's all-time record holder is Lothar Matthaus, who played 150 international matches.

As for top scorers, only Kai Havertz has scored in the EM for the DFB team, finding the net twice in the last tournament. Germany was knocked out in the round of 16 after a 0:2 loss against England in 2021. Thomas Müller is the leading scorer in Nagelsmann's squad with an impressive 45 goals. Ilkay Gündogan is not far behind with 18 goals, followed by Toni Kroos (17), Kai Havertz (16), Leroy Sane (13), and Niclas Füllkrug (11). Miroslav Klose, the DFB's record scorer, has scored a staggering 71 goals in his career.
