The relics of a saint were moved to Munich during the Reformation to protect them. Benno became the city's patron saint because of this. To commemorate the 500th anniversary of the original transfer of the relics to Meissen on June 16, 1524, the archbishop of Munich, Reinhard Cardinal Marx, presented this gift, the diocese stated. The veneration of saints doesn't involve any supernatural practices, but rather they can inspire us to follow their examples and find our way to Jesus Christ, shared Bishop Heinrich Timmerevers.
