Fires - Rolls of fabric burn on semitrailer: highway closed for hours
A semi-trailer that caught fire on the A44 highway near Werl, east of Dortmund, has triggered a major fire department operation lasting several hours. Early on Saturday morning, the large rolls of material loaded onto the semi-trailer caught fire for as yet unexplained reasons, according to the fire department and police. No one was reportedly injured during the operation. Several media reported earlier.
According to the police and fire department, the truck driver steered his articulated lorry onto the hard shoulder and immediately uncoupled the tractor unit. The fire department arrived with ten emergency vehicles, which brought a total of 30,000 liters of water and extinguishing liquids. Although the fire was brought under control with foam and water, flaring embers had to be fought again and again. A towing company pulled the load apart for this purpose.
The highway was closed in the direction of Kassel for almost six hours. Traffic was then able to pass the accident site in the overtaking lane.

Another articulated lorry accident occurred on the B1 highway in Werl, resulting in traffic disruptions and delays for several hours. The Fire department and police were once again involved in managing the situation, ensuring the safety of motorists and containing any potential hazards.
