Pagani Imola Roadster - crazy winged speedster with 850 hp

Tested on a race track, named after a race track: With the Pagani Imola Roadster, the name says it all. But the sports car can also be driven on normal roads. Only eight examples are to be built, at a price of probably more than six million euros.

With the Imola Roadster, Italian sports car manufacturer Pagani is launching the sportiest version of its Huayra series, which was introduced in 2012. The super sports car, which is to be produced in a limited series of just eight units, will feature a number of aerodynamic components for increased downforce. At a speed of 280 km/h, Pagani promises a downforce of 600 kilograms on the vehicle.

The Imola's sophisticated aerodynamic system is designed to provide 6000 kilograms of downforce at a speed of 280 km/h.

At the same time, lightweight construction measures such as the use of titanium or a special painting process are intended to save a few kilograms. Pagani gives the dry weight as 1260 kilograms. For comparison: the Huayra built between 2012 and 2018 weighs 1350 kilograms empty.

In terms of performance, however, the Imola Roadster packs a punch: the six-liter V12 from Mercedes-AMG delivers 625 kW/850 hp and 1100 newtonmeters of torque to the rear wheels alone via a seven-speed automatic transmission. The sprint from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour (km/h) should take just over three seconds, while the top speed is limited to 350 km/h.

Pretty close to a racing car, but approved for the road

Other special features of the Imola include semi-slick mixed tires from Pirelli and ceramic brakes from Brembo with brake discs measuring almost 40 centimetres at the front, which are gripped by six-piston callipers. The vehicle also features electronically controlled active dampers and an electronically controlled differential on the rear axle.

With its technology, the Imola is pretty close to a racing car, yet it is also supposed to be approved for road use.

Pagani has presumably already found financially strong, i.e. very wealthy buyers for the only eight Imola Roadsters, who are likely to have invested more than six million euros for one example.
