Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Friday during an official visit to France. In the morning, Zelensky will hold talks with French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu and afterward, visit the defense company KNDS in Versailles. The company intends to establish weapons production in Ukraine to aid in the country's defense against Russia.

Additional stops for President Zelensky on Friday include a visit to the National Assembly, where he will address deputies, and a meeting with Mayor Anne Hidalgo. He arrived in France on Thursday and participated in commemorations for the Allied landing in Normandy, marking the 80th anniversary of the Second World War event.

Macron previously announced that he would express his thoughts on the potential dispatch of French military trainers to Ukraine during Zelensky's visit. There have been recent discussions about dispatching Western military trainers to support the Ukrainian army more effectively in the war-torn region. At present, there are no such training programs in place.

It remains unclear whether France will make this decision independently or with the assistance of its partners. Early in the year, Macron expressed the possibility of sending ground troops to Ukraine, although he didn't entirely rule out this option, sparking a passionate discussion among NATO allies.
