"GTA VI" - New YouTube record for first trailer
The gaming world has been looking forward to the release of "Grand Theft Auto VI" ("GTA VI") for what feels like ages. The number of views of the first trailer for the video game announced for 2025 should now make it clear just how much. The one-and-a-half-minute clip was viewed more than 105 million times the day after its release.
This means that the clip has also set three records, as confirmed by Guinness World Records. Firstly, the trailer is the most-viewed reveal of a video game within the first day of its release - at the 24-hour mark, there were more than 90.4 million views on the counter. The clip also collected around 8.9 million likes within 24 hours, making it the video game trailer with the most likes.
"GTA VI" breaks MrBeast's record
In addition, the trailer - excluding music clips - is the video with the most views in a single day. This was also confirmed by the previous record holder Jimmy Donaldson (25). "The 'GTA VI' trailer has just broken our record for the most views on YouTube in 24 hours," wrote the YouTube megastar, better known as MrBeast, on the X platform. He also shared a screenshot showing that the video had already achieved 70 million views in around 16 hours. MrBeast's previous record was 59.4 million in 24 hours.
Rockstar Games has announced that"GTA VI" will be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025. "'Grand Theft Auto VI' continues our quest to push the boundaries of what's possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world gaming experiences," said Sam Houser (52), co-founder of Rockstar Games, in a press release. "We're excited to share this new vision with players around the world."
