Previously well-known footballer David Beckham has been reflecting on previous difficult experiences after the release of his Netflix documentary series. In a chat with "Variety," Beckham, aged 49, recalled discovering a note on his car's windshield after leaving a pub with his wife Victoria. David Beckham was ostracized after the 1998 FIFA World Cup
In the autumn, a film centering on former British football player David Beckham aired on Netflix. The documentary offers insight into Beckham's public perception after the 1998 World Cup. During the match against Argentina in the Achtelfinale round, he was handed a red card and was unable to compete as England was eliminated from the competition in the penalty shootout. The result was largely blamed on him, and he was the target of considerable backlash. Becker disclosed during this time that he suffered from a depressive episode.
After the "Beckham" documentary, "Beckham" took away the gravity of mental health issues. "Twenty years ago, no one was talking about it," Beckham stated. "However, it's incredible how much people can now openly discuss their emotions."
