About 500 investigators from the Customs and Tax Fraud Department have conducted a major operation against the owner of a Munich construction company. The man was arrested and taken into custody, the Munich Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed. He's accused of causing damage ranging from four to six million euros.

Authorities claimed that the investigators searched around 80 locations in Munich, Berlin, and other parts of Bavaria, Lower Saxony, Brandenburg, and Saxony-Anhalt. The construction company owner is suspected of stealing wages, committing fraud, and other crimes in various instances.

Seventy witnesses were interviewed, and various pieces of evidence and assets were confiscated. This extensive inquiry targets a total of six suspects. The construction company owner is accused of hiring undocumented workers since 2015 and failing to pay their social security or income taxes.

Investigators uncovered about 15 million euros in cash deposits on the company owner's business accounts.
