Macron welcomes Biden at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Following the reception, they have scheduled a working dinner and a joint press conference. In the evening, Macron will throw a grand state banquet in honor of Biden at the Elysee Palace.

The trip to Paris is part of the bilateral aspect of Biden's state visit to France. Previously, Biden attended the 80th anniversary commemorations for the Allied landing in the northern French region of Normandy. The US President will stop by a US soldier's cemetery between Paris and Reims on Sunday.

The purpose of the state visit is to highlight the camaraderie between France and the United States. Biden is currently running against his former boss and possible competitor, Donald Trump.
