Theater run by the government - Introduction to the New Season with 35 Debuts and a Significant Message

"It's time for love" marks the beginning of the Mecklenburg State Theater's new season, full of fresh premieres, dance performances, and excellent off-site events. While prices have increased by approximately 5%, there'll still be affordable ticket options available. Commercial Manager, Christian Schwandt, shed light on this in a recent press release, emphasizing that our prices will remain relatively low compared to other state theaters.

Not to miss the great productions, Wegner informs us that there will be discounted tickets available for those without an entitlement card when purchasing at the box office for just €8. Moreover, tickets for children, young individuals, trainees, and students from outside Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be available for just €5. This will ensure that more individuals can enjoy visiting their local theater upon availability.

The new season boasts a whopping 35 premieres, more than 40 music performances, 21 revivals and unforgettable guest appearances at Schwerin and Parchim. Kicking off the season is a stage production of Mozart's "Don Giovanni", scheduled for September 13th in the Large House. Meanwhile, a revival of "Sophia, Death and I" will open the M*Halle on September 5th.

The cultural paradise of Parchim welcomes the general public on September 21st, with "Romeo and Juliet" opening the Schwerin’s Large House on September 27th. The M*Halle begins with Bertolt Brecht’s "The Rise and Fall of Arturo Ui" on September 20th. What's more, in 2025, the cultured and refined drama and music productions will once again fill the Old Garden during the Schlossfestspiele Schwerin.

"It's time for love" creates a cohesive theme that intertwines with the theater's upcoming shows, especially the adventurous love stories in "Romeo and Juliet" and "Don Giovanni". General Director Hans-Georg Wegner shared that we've chosen these stories as they're both dear to audiences because of their moving love storylines. This theme is also a gentle nudge to society to avoid conflicts and wars, and to focus more on spreading love and respect.

Dance guru, Xenia Wiest, has a significant role in the season as she will be directing her first opera, slated for March 28, 2025. It’s an enchanting piece, "Dido and Aeneas," and while she might be more enthusiastic than when she danced as a ballerina, Wiest is delighted with this new opportunity. She'll now be able to control the entire experience of the performance, relishing the moment to create a visually captivating scene that comes together beautifully.

The pre-sale for every premiere from the fresh season and each performance and concert within the Large House launches on July 2nd. Get ready for an enticing ride exploring the themes of love through our handpicked selection of plays and concerts.
