Hunter Schafer stars in the "Blade Runner" franchise.

Following her successful introduction in the movie "Euphoria," Hunter Schafer is prepared to take on a significant part in another high-profile project. She is returning to television, this time appearing in the series "Blade Runner 2099."

Based on the Science Fiction series "Blade Runner," this show is being revived as a streaming series. The cast for the mini-series "Blade Runner 2099" is growing, with 25-year-old US model and actress Hunter Schafer ("Euphoria," "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes") taking on a leading role. Reports of her involvement were shared by industry publications "Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety."

Last year, Schafer made her film debut in "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" and starred in the German horror film "Cuckoo." She will next be seen onscreen when Giorgos Lanthimos' new film "Kinds of Kindness" releases in Germany, featuring her alongside Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe on July 4.

In May we learned that Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh ("Everything Everywhere All at Once") would take on a crucial role in the project. Details regarding the characters are being kept under wraps, and as of now, no details have been revealed about the role Schafer will assume.

Ridley Scott in Charge

The original "Blade Runner" film from 1982, directed by Ridley Scott, depicts a dystopian future dating back to the year 2019. When the risk of synthetic replicants emerges, Deckard (played by Harrison Ford) - once a Blade Runner - is summoned to address the danger. In 2017, Denis Villeneuve directed "Blade Runner 2049" for theaters, starring Ryan Gosling and Ford.

The proposed series on Amazon Prime Video is set to take place in the year 2099. Ridley Scott, who is 86 years old, is signed on as the executive producer, while Silka Luisa ("Shining Girls") joins as the screenwriter and showrunner. The first two episodes will be directed by British director Jonathan van Tulleken ("Shogun").
