Arriving back home after a vacation, a man in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district discovered his house engulfed in flames and the basement flooded. The extent of damage to the initially unlivable single-family house in Heitersheim is approximately half a million Euros, according to a police statement released on Sunday. The fire in the basement is thought to have began several days prior due to a technical malfunction, leading to significant smoke production. Additionally, a pipe burst, causing water to pour in.
