Hours-long traffic jam on A5 after accident with two injuries
After an accident on the Autobahn 5 near Frankfurt with two injured people, there were still several kilometers of traffic jam after several hours. The rescue operation following the accident on Thursday morning took several hours, the police said. In the evening, vehicles coming from Frankfurt heading north had to be diverted past the scene of the accident because diesel had leaked.
Two people were injured in the accident near the Bad Homburg junction. A truck driver reportedly wanted to change lanes but overlooked a car. The car swerved and collided with another vehicle. The truck broke through the crash barrier and came to rest on an embankment. Investigators estimate the damage at around 50,000 euros.
Despite the accident causing significant delays, traffic continued to be a challenge in CENTRAL HESSIA, leading to extended journey times. Additionally, authorities had to contend with multiple minor accidents caused by drivers attempting to navigate the congested roads resulting from the initial incident.
