Heinz Hoenig's surgery is not yet imminent.

Heinz Hoenig, a 72-year-old actor, has spent almost six weeks in the hospital, with his exact release date still unknown. He is set to undergo another major surgery, but that's not currently the focus.

In late May, Annika Kärsten-Hoenig, Hoenig's wife, provided an update on his health during an interview with RTL. She mentioned that his condition had deteriorated, as he'd been in a coma and required artificial ventilation once again. Hoenig also awaited a life-saving operation.

Now, another update on his situation is available, with little change. Hoenig has regained consciousness, informed Birgit Fischer-Höper, Hoenig's manager, in a conversation with RTL. He's still on artificial ventilation, making him remain in the intensive care unit. "He's certainly limited and restricted," Fischer-Höper shared. "But other than that, he's in good shape, fully conscious."

Hoenig needs an operation on his aorta. Before being admitted to the hospital on April 30, he had undergone surgery on his heart and esophagus. This upcoming operation is inevitable but isn't the primary concern right now. "He needs to be more stable first. He's still on artificial ventilation. Once that's removed and he's strengthened, then the thought of the other operation becomes possible," Fischer-Höper added.

Emotional Moments

No specific timeframe exists for this course of action. When Hoenig might be prepared and healthy enough for the aorta surgery is indeterminate. Meanwhile, Hoenig and his family draw strength from the immense support they're receiving.

Kärsten-Hoenig, Hoenig's wife, recently shared images on Instagram of the bracelets they'd been wearing for a few days. "Health" is printed on Hoenig's bracelet, while "Energy" and "Strength" can be found on Kärsten-Hoenig's bracelet. The couple's two sons, three-year-old Juliano and one-year-old Jianni, wore similar bracelets.

Kärsten-Hoenig described the backstory behind the bracelets in her caption. "A few days ago, we received a package from a very special family," she started. "Inside, among other things, were these beautiful arm bands, crafted with lots of love for us."

She also shared that they've received many heartfelt messages that lift their spirits. "I tell him about the beautiful messages and read them to him. He's overjoyed every time he hears about them and sheds tears," Kärsten-Hoenig concluded.
