Handball - Hannover-Burgdorf wins its group in the European League

TSV Hannover-Burgdorf secured first place in the European League with a hard-fought victory at Gornik Zabrze in the final game to win the group on Tuesday evening. Thanks to the 32:29 (14:19) victory and the 34:28 win in the first leg, the German handball club will also take the optimum haul of four points into the main round. The best scorer in head coach Christian Prokop's team was Maximilian Gerbl (6 goals).

The game was evenly matched until the 15th minute. After that, the hosts became stronger, while the Lower Saxony side's finishing dropped off. TSV missed ten of its 24 attempts up to the break and was therefore clearly behind.

Prokop's team trailed for a long time in the second half, but then scored three goals in succession to reduce the deficit to 26:27 in the 49th minute. After Adam Wasowski was shown a red card, Hannover was outnumbered in the fiercely contested final spell and ultimately capitalized on the situation to win.
