Edibles and beverages - German wine exports increase due to high demand from China.

In the initial three months of 2024, the export market for German wines noticed a remarkable upswing. The quantity and monetary worth of shipped wines amplified by 9% in contrast to the corresponding period last year, as declared by the German Wine Institute at Bodenheim on a Thursday. Consequently, approximately 283,000 hectoliters were sold internationally and over 92 million euros were earned.

Among the nations, China exhibited a significantly strong surge in wine exports - by a whooping 47% to 5.4 million euros and 49% to around 10,000 hectoliters. German merchants also recorded double-digit sales and increased exportation in the Netherlands, Poland, Japan, and Denmark.

The earnings in 2023 had augmented by 4% compared to 2022, predominately influenced by price raises. For a liter of wine, manufacturers in foreign countries collected an average of 3.35 euros during April 2023 to March 2024, amounting to a 13 cents spike from the preceding financial year.
