Rhine-Erft district - Fire department extinguishes fire in apartment building: man in hospital

A man has been taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation following a fire in Pulheim(Rhine-Erft district). The fire department was alerted to a fire in an apartment building on Saturday afternoon, according to the Pulheim fire department. The bathroom of a basement apartment was on fire. Two residents ran back into the house to save objects from the flames, said a spokesperson for the Pulheim fire department on Sunday morning. Both had to be treated by an emergency doctor due to suspected smoke inhalation; one of them was then taken to hospital.

The 36 firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, the fire department added. The reason for the fire in the apartment has yet to be determined, said a Pulheim police spokesperson on Sunday. There was also initially no information on the property damage.
